If you’re having trouble getting the AR functions working, follow these steps for best results.
Firstly, make sure your instagram app is fully updated as many functions only work on recent updates. Secondly, make sure the device you’re using is a modern smart phone device. There has been reports of bugs using iPhone 16, so if possible use a different model.
For best results, avoid glare while using your phone’s camera, especially on the holographic cards. Natural lighting sometimes also helps.
Go to the DragonWarsAR instagram account and tap on the filters tab from the profile page. There should be a list of all the character card animations. Simply find the matching animation for each card you wish to load. If you’re not sure which it is, match the card number (001-061) located in the bottom right corner of each card. Select the filter you want and let it load.
If you see a spinning circle, the app is still downloading the animation. Sometimes instagram gets stuck at this point and you may want to re-load the filter. If everything has loaded, point your camera at the front artwork of the card and it should show the animation attached. You can then tilt and move your card, ready for filming using the instagram camera feature and share to your profile and story.
You can also find these animations via the cards page of the website. You will need to do this for the special gold card, as it’s not featured on the instagram profile directly.
If you’re still having issues loading the animations, try other devices and feel free to let us know your issue. Unfortunately for now, we must use the Instagram system to display the filters, but we have a plan to release our own AR app for 2025 to have complete control over the accessibility of our creations.
